SSH Client

You can launch applications on a remote computer via SSH (Secure Shell). The display is usually on the terminal; X11 connections can also be routed via SSH. This article shows how to configure SSH sessions in IGEL OS.

Application via SSH

To manage the list of SSH sessions, proceed as follows:

  • Click image-20240614-105938.png to create a new entry.

  • Click image-20240614-110012.png to remove the selected entry.

  • Click image-20240614-110035.png to edit the selected entry.

  • Click image-20240614-110106.png to copy the selected entry.

→ Click image-20240614-105938.png to define the starting methods for the session.

Command

Menu path: SSH Client > [Session Name] > Command

 

Here, you can change the following settings:

Remote user name

User name under which the application runs on the remote computer. If left blank, user will be asked for it at session startup.

 

Remote Host

Host name or IP address of the remote computer.

 

Command Line

Command which is to be executed on the remote computer immediately after logging in.

Options

Menu path: SSH Client > [Session Name] > Options

 

Here, you can change the following settings:

Enable X11 connection forwarding

☑ X11 applications on the remote computer that are launched via the SSH session will be shown on your device. (Default)

☐ No X11 programs can be launched on the remote computer via the SSH session.

Enable compression

☑ The data will be compressed for transmission.

☐ The data will not be compressed for transmission. (Default)

 

Port

SSH port. (Default: 22)
