(12.1-en) Shutdown

This article shows the options to configure the behavior of shutdown and suspend procedures in IGEL OS. You can start the procedures by clicking the shutdown button. The button can be displayed in the Start Menu and in the Application Launcher. For more information on the button display, see (12.1-en) Start Menu and (12.1-en) Application Launcher.


Menu path: System > Power Options > Shutdown





By default, when the user clicks the shutdown button, an information dialog is displayed. The user can confirm or cancel the procedures through this dialog.



Allow system shutdown

 The user can shut down the device. The Shutdown button is shown in the info dialog. (Default)

The user cannot shut down the device. The Shutdown button is not shown in the info dialog. 



Allow system suspend

The user can suspend the device. The Suspend button is shown in the info dialog. (Default)

The user cannot suspend the device. The Suspend button is not shown in the info dialog.



Allow canceling of shutdown process

The user can cancel the shutdown and suspend procedures through clicking the Cancel button in the info dialog. (Default)

The user cannot cancel the procedures. The Cancel button is not shown in the info dialog.

If Without dialog in enabled, procedures cannot be canceled manually.



Default action

The action that is carried out if the timeout defined under Dialog timeout expires, or if the Without dialog option is enabled.
Possible options:

  • Shutdown

  • Suspend (Default)

  • Cancel

  • Nothing

Known Issue

For OS version 12.01, the Cancel and Nothing options trigger a Shutdown default action. With OS version 12.2.0, the configuration is reworked. 



Without dialog

The info dialog is not shown. The action selected under Default action will be carried out.

The info dialog is shown. (Default) 



Dialog timeout

Time (in seconds) after which the info dialog will close and the action specified under Default action will be carried out. If the value is set to 0, the dialog will be shown until the user selects one of the possible actions. (Default: 10)
